PC DVR as good as standalone

Hi all

It is very interesting forum:

http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?s=ac917ebd04ee2434a86cfa56766aacc7&f=116

You can find there for example information how to make XP running on 400 MB (or less) HDD parition (no paintbrush, outlook and lots of other components not necessary for DVR system what makes system running safer, faster, less resources required - you will wonder how fast can run PC with 1 GHz CPU, XP and 256 MB RAM etc), how to put XP into Flash memmory and make system as stable and virus free as Linux standalones, how to make XP, WIN 98 starting in several seconds with your own logo, etc, etc.

If you have recording boards working with WIN 98/ME - you can configure system smaller like 50 MB.

What for (RAM and HDDs not expensive at present) all this troubles?

If you will cut Win to 1/5 of their original size - you will cut off 4/5 of Win source code with holes for hacker, viruses, make system working with unwanted tasks (stable) with much less hardware requirements, etc.

I think it is future of DVRs - built on PC platform (cheap and easy service), with Windows Embedded or with regular Windows but with EWF technology (stable and virus free).

Have a good fun - and will be greteful for your experiences with PC embedded DVRs in this thread.
