DVR's with HDMI Output

I was wondering what the real purpose or benefits are? If I have a home DVR system (8 or so cameras) and use cameras in the 520-600 TVL range, would monitoring or playback look sharper or better on a 19" 720P or 1080P monitor or is HDMI output designed to really shine on a 32" (or larger) high res monitor that would be placed in a store entrance or something like that? I'm just not sure it is something the home security DIYer would make full use of...but I could be wrong.

HDMI and VGA generally look the same on most of the DVR's, but HDMI can carry audio while VGA cannot. Always use the VGA or HDMI connection over the BNC.
