Mounting a PoE Splitter inside an Outdoor Dome Enclosure

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Has anyone out there ever mounted a PoE Splitter inside their outdoor dome enclosure? There is room to mount one in mine and I was wondering if this would affect anything if I did it. I'm looking to run my camera PoE and the watts needed for the camera and the enclosure together is 34.5W My splitter only outputs 27W. I was thinking out disconnecting the heater (reducing the watts by 20w) and mounting the PoE splitter inside the enclosure. This way the splitter is protected and if it get cold out, the heat from the splitter and the camera itself would hopefully be enough to keep the camera warm. Any thoughts?

Chris
