groovyman 0 Posted April 29, 2012 The DVR should have come with a CD that has playback and conversion software. If not, maybe you can go to the manufacturer website and download the required software. What make & model DVR?

shockwave199 0 Posted April 29, 2012 This should work for you because my 408 uses H264 as well. http://qsee.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/909/kw/qs%20avi%20converter Download either the avi generator if all you need is file conversion, or both. The avi generator is great but I'm not a big fan of that playback program. It's ok and works. and you can even convert to avi with it, but it's kind of a confusing app for something that should be simple. The avi generator though- A+. Fast and always works to just do the conversion. Then you can work with the avi files in whatever software or WMP. Dan
groovyman 0 Posted April 29, 2012 the dvr i've got does'nt seem to have a brand name or model number it is an import from china. That's too bad. Didn't come with a software CD either? Did it come with any type of manual or other documentation with an indication of where the software might be obtained? Hopefully the software Dan recommended will help. rubixs 0 Posted April 29, 2012 i have got the instruction manual but its not much use the system did'nt come with any software. i've had it about a year now just monitoring & recording u can see pictures of it in another thread i posted about the networking side of it here,http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=30225 i had abit of an inciddent a few nights back & reviewed the footage & i just want to capture them few minutes to view on laptop. i've recorded the section i want on to a usb stick & tranfered it to desktop which is a h264 file but cant find any player or codec to view the file. i did try them 2 u recommended shockwave199 but no joy i thought i converted it to avi with avi generator but when played in vlc player it was just blank screen & a high pitch scratchy noise. shockwave199 0 Posted April 29, 2012 Your player probably doesn't support avi playback. I actually find that when it comes to dealing with recorded dvr footage, it's a good idea to have a video editor at your disposal too. I find video editing software really helpful. Look around for a free version. You could for instance open up an avi file and convert that to mp4 or WMV for easier viewing and sharing. Anything having to do with recorded video footage calls for having video editing software as part of your tools, imo. Good luck.
groovyman 0 Posted April 29, 2012 You may need to install some codecs. Download & install the K-Lite Codec Pack 8.7.0 Full from here: http://free-codecs.com/K_Lite_Codec_Pack_download.htm Please keep in mind that the QSee software may not be the correct software to play back and convert the file from your DVR, but if it is your computer might need those codecs. tomcctv 190 Posted April 29, 2012 the dvr i've got does'nt seem to have a brand name or model number it is an import from china. hi rubixs. your dvr is a old avtech. you need to load this onto your pc then open your file. http://downloads.rhinoco.com.au/products/dvr4chsov5h264/dvr4chsov5h264-remoteclient-setup-0.1.1.4.exe you cant open your files with other software and with you being in the UK you cant use any editing software if you need it for court use.
