cgcmgr 0 Posted May 3, 2012 Hi Guys, I purchased a 24VAC 50VA Transformer to power my camera and enclosure. I got the transformer today, but the screw terminals do not specify which is positive and which is negative. Does it matter? Also, the instructions say to use the transformer with a duplex receptacle having a center screw. It also says the unit is intended to be correctly orientated in a vertical or floor mount position. I plan on connecting this transformer to a Heavy Duty Extension cord inside a water tight box. The transformer will most likely be leaning on its side. Do you think this would be ok? The transformer is a MG Electronics 24VAC Class 2 Transformer 50VA with LED. Here is a link: http://www.spytown.com/24voac50vaul.html Thanks, Chris
jxk716 0 Posted May 3, 2012 Polarity does not matter with the 24VAC transformer; I have used similar transformers and have had to take the screw out as well as use it, as added security, into the wall plate. I have also positioned it upright and on its side with no problems. The main thing is to make sure it will not come un-plugged.
