claustro 0 Posted May 8, 2012 (edited) Hi all! I am trying to diy a cheap surveillance system for my home. I leave in the front of a 2 family house. We have the back wall in common and 3 wall free with a garden all around I am planning to install 5 IP camera outside and one inside as I show you in the photos below. The camera on the terrace on the first floor is for someone who try to enter through the roof of my neigh-board ( not surveilled ) Can you tell me: 1) do you thing a video surveillance system would be a good deterrent for bad guys? 2) do you think my project is doable 3) Do you think I can make it with vga resolution or I'll need HD camera if I'would like to have face recognition? The cameras I was thinking about are these. I know little china - toy camera but i am short on budget for now http://www.securitycamera2000.com/products/-Megapixels-720P-Outdoor-Waterproof-H.264-IP-Camera-with-IR-40M-View.html http://www.securitycamera2000.com/products/HD-720P-WDR-IR-20m-Night-Vision-Indoor-IP-Metal-Dome-Camera.html 4) what do you think of this cameras? Please excuse me for my very bad english hope you'll understand Thank you Andrea Edited May 8, 2012 by Guest
nDAlk90 0 Posted May 8, 2012 I would recommend Hybrid NVR / DVR. This way you can have IP in critical areas like Driveway, Street. Font door & side of home can be analog to save money.
claustro 0 Posted May 8, 2012 Thank you very very much for your reply. Your is a good point But I am afraid it is not convenient in my situation , My house is already wired with a rj45 cable which I use as home pc network , So I can't use this wires for analog video signalI think that the costs of new wires installation will be easily more than how much I can save with analog vs Ip camera.
