piersuk 0 Posted May 9, 2012 Does anyone know if the connection of the Viper CCTV system : http://www.vipercctv.com/cctv/cctv-dvr-recorders/nemesis-apollo-hd-cctv-digital-video-recorders-dvr.html Is possible to be used with a Dynamic no IP service such as DynDNS or NO-IP? I understand how the systems work by monitoring the WAN IP but is this dependant on the Router or the DVR? It will be connected to an early BT Home Hub (the white one) on a system with a Dynamic WAN. If this doesn't make sense let me know? I guess if it's router dependant any DVR with Network capability will work??? If I'm barking up the wrong tree and there are better options for what I want I guess the protocol is a PM? Thanks Piers
tomcctv 190 Posted May 9, 2012 hi. yes it can be connected to a ddns service. can i ask why you are on the old BT router. i would think about getting the new one and then not use a ddns service.
piersuk 0 Posted May 9, 2012 Thanks for the answer.. The router is not mine, it's for a friend that I'm giving a hand to. I did think that I would get him to call BT and get a new one.. So it's the router not the DVR ??? What's the story with the new boxes and not needing a DDNS? Thanks
tomcctv 190 Posted May 9, 2012 I understand how the systems work by monitoring the WAN IP but is this dependant on the Router or the DVR? it is dependant on the routers ip. but with using BT it does not change as much as other ISPs and BT sell static cheap anyway. i would just set your system up first without a ddns and get there new router (there free) if you have been with them over 12 months. and get a static ip. dahua (which is your dvr) are also about to bring out there own ddns which area are you in ? piersuk 0 Posted May 9, 2012 Isle of Wight... I'll get him to get the new box and a static IP, seems a simpler solution, if not a little conceding defeat.. It's all about learning
piersuk 0 Posted May 9, 2012 Do BT offer static IP's for residential customers?? That may well be the stumbling block. Though if DDNS works I'll get around it that way
