jonusfeelwell 0 Posted May 13, 2012 Hey everyone, I need help selecting a camera and DVR set-up for use monitoring a construction jobsite. The project location is quite a drive from our offices so the main purpose of the camera is to monitor construction activities. I am thinking we can accomplish this with one PTZ camera that will be centrally located atop the field office trailer or a post. Based on what I have read so far the necessary specifications for the system setup are as follows: -PTZ; 360, 90 deg -Greater than 16x optical zoom -real-time online monitoring -efficient bandwidth utilization <1mbps -weatherproof -reasonable low-light operating capability, monitoring at night would be great but is not essential -Local video recording, ability to retrieve recorded video online would be great but is not essential -durable, as it will likely be set-up and taken down multiple times during its lifetime -reliable, after initial set-up it is unlikely that anyone on-site will be able to service it -security, any additional security features to keep someone from stealing the camera would be a definite plus. The budget for the single PTZ camera and DVR is $1000 with additional money available for cabling, mounting, and power supply. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, there is an overwhelming number of choices and hearing from someone with experience with a particular setup would be invaluable. jonusfeelwell 0 Posted May 14, 2012 That looks like a nice set-up but may be a bit out of our price range. Also, on this particular job we will have access to a power source so would not utilize the solar cells.
