Claughton26 0 Posted May 15, 2012 Having spent many hours getting remote access to the DVR through the internet I now find I cannot get the DVR to send an E-Mail or at least No E-Mail arrives. My set up is: DVR connected by cable to my Vigin (netger) Superhub. Superhub connected to Virginmedia Broadband. PC with Windows 7 (64bit) connected wirelessley connected to Suprhub. I use Webmail for E-Mail. Will somebody help by giving me, and others with my problem, all of the essential settings for the DVR relevant to E-Mail, preferably using the Web Server software to access the DVR. Also, is it possible to determine whether the DVR is trying to send an E-Mail and it is getting lost/blocked or whether the DVR is not sending anything. Should the sending of E-Mails appear in one of the Logs.
IseeYou 0 Posted May 17, 2012 I am new to the forum but have been reading up a lot! For your email question - you would need to see how the DVR sends out the email. Did you use your Virgin email settings in the configuration in the DVR? Some ISP's only allow Email clients to connect to their servers to send out mail. I am not sure how a DVR sends out mail. Others may want to know more information - like what DVR and such - so you may want to put that infomraton in as well.
security1guy 0 Posted May 18, 2012 what is your DVR model # ? what is the email account you are using in the email alert settings inside your DVR?
Claughton26 0 Posted May 18, 2012 Hi I see you The DVR does not have a model " on it,the packaging or the User manual. It is described as in the subject. It is purchased from Maplin, Branded as CnM Secure and I believe manufactured in China. The E-Mail settings I am using in the DVR are: SMTP Server - smtp.ntlworld.com Port - 465 SSL required - Yes User Name - my E-mail address Password - my VirginMedia password Sende - my viginMedia address Title - "ALARM" Receiver - my Virgin Media Address In Alarm settings "Send E mail" is set to yes I am beginning to believe that the ISP is blocking the E-Mails
