When my dvr sends email , gmail will not forward it as text

Recommended Posts

I know this sounds strange but If my Tp-link 3140 camers dvr sends a smtp email to my gmail account, my gmail account will recieve the email but it wont forward it as a text message to my android phone? I can log into my gmail email program or any other email client and send an email to my gmail account and it forwards it as a text message to my android phone. All I had to do was for the forwarding address, i put the tmobile email which is 10digit phone number@tmomail.com or .net I forgot which one. So how come my gmail will forward all the emails I send from email clients but when my dvr smtp program sends an alert email then the gmail will recieve the email but it will not forward it?????? Please someone help. I have spent the last 12 hours online trying to fix this and research why this is happening! Thanks in advance. Frustrated and confused

Are you trying to forward the emails with attached images as text messages? Maybe you are exceeding the cell carriers text size limit. When I did this once, I used my carries MMS (picture text) email address instead of SMS (text) and that allowed for larger emails.

For example, on Verizon Wireless, it's number@vtext.com for SMS but number@vzwpix.com for MMS.

first off thanks for replying. To answer both your questions. I do have gmail on my android but gmail or any email for that matter can only be checked for new messages once every 5 minutes, so if someone is breaking in and I want to alert the police, I need all the extra time I can get hence the need for me forwarding all dvr alert messages to text messaging because as I have tested it, its almost instant. As for the other question, It wont work and I currently have file attachements turned off so that I wouldnt run into a file size issue but thanks for the advise, I am going to look into tmobiles other text message email so i can send larger files. Here is my issue, currently my tp link cs3430 ip cameras smtp will send email to my gmail smtp server but once the server gets it, it will not forward the email to my android as a text message. But if I send an email with any email client to my gmail account, it will forward the email instantly to my cell phone as a text. Also this doesnt only happen with gmail, it happens with all the smtp servers that I try. For some reason when my dvr sends these emails the smtp servers will ignore them when it comes to forwarding. I dont have any filters set that could be blocking. It must have something to do with the source code of the dvrs email template. It must put something in it that these smtp servers have filters set for, like, this is a autoreponder email sending a dvr alert message? Any ideas guys? Please help, I feel like I am going crazy.....I spent my whole 2 days off chasing down leads and google links to try and find a answere. Thanks in advance. Tj

One nice thing about gmail is that it is easy to read the source file on a message. Open the email in gmail and select "show original message". Look for any odd headers in the SMTP envelope. I have no idea what you will find, but it is a good place to start. This was how I found that one system I was using was not correctly setting the timezone on the message origination time. Once I found that, I was able to contact tech support with the exact problem and they wrote a patch for me.
