Watch Computers using CCTV multiplexer

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am after a way to monitor multiple work stations from one computer without spending 12,000 to do it. CCTV splitters are a 100th of the cost of digital splitters.

Im trying to figure out a way i can use one monitor to view 16 computer displays at once.

Ive found a lot of CCTV multiplexers that would do exactly what i want as i dont need to be able to manipulate them just display them on the same screen.

Basically i need to see if its possible to take a DVI-I output from my video card and convert it to be able to go into a 4x4 multiplexer for display, higher resolution would be nice but i wont be needing to see anything clearly just be able to tell what in general is going on (for example i can at low rez tell the differnce between a spreadsheet and goofing around on the internet)

None of the computer folks ive talked to could help me out with this, they just recommend a DVI muliplexer that has WAY more functionality than i need and way higher rez that i need and cost 3k a piece. Im hoping that for simple display its more in the wheel house of the CCTV community.

Thank You

^That looks like it would do the job... far more efficiently.

To do this with a multiplexer would require some sort of DVI-A or VGA to composite adapter... on every client machine. AverKey is a well-known brand for this, but they aren't cheap - anywhere from $50 to $300 depending on the exact model. 16 stations at $50 each is $800 right there.
