skippy969 0 Posted June 4, 2012 I have been using the Kalatel RSM-1600 and RSM-700 to transmit and recieve video over PSTN. A while back one of the units stopped working and I bought a new one off ebay. Now the RX unit has stopped working and I can't find another new one, plus I think its time to upgrade a little. I need to find a new way to transmit and recieve. I can only use PSTN. I need to view at least 8 cameras. I currently have a Q-See DVR model QSTD-2416. I contacted Kalatel, now Interlogix/UTFC, and they told me the RSM-1600 was discontinued in 2004 and support ended in 2009. Any help would be appreciated
tomcctv 190 Posted June 4, 2012 hi. 15 year old technology to work on modern phone lines is a problem by its self. i dont know what part of the world your in but most have gone from analog phone lines to digital. is there a reason why you cant go broadband ??? much cheaper than paying for every call your current unit makes
skippy969 0 Posted June 4, 2012 Currently at the source site, the only broadband available is Hughesnet, satellite. It has a bandwidth cap of 625 mb in a 24 hour period. The remote video usually runs for 12-16 hours daily, I'm not 100% sure, but I think that will run the 625 mb down real quick. That is the only internet we have and we use it daily for email, looking up and ordering parts, etc...
