jesterace 0 Posted June 21, 2012 Hi, A friend of mine has an Apollo DVR setup with several cameras. It has a web service to access the cameras via the internet. I've set this up, ports forwarded and using a DDNS on port 8080 to avoid potential blocking of port 80 and everything seemed fine. I kept checking the web service from home each day to make sure it was working well, but after a few days i couldn't access it. When back on site, i couldn't even access the web service over LAN! I checked and re-seated all plugs, restarted the router... no access. In the end i had to reboot the CCTV DVR. Low and behold, everything started working again - but the problem returned a few days later. At the moment i've had to set the DVR's maintainance option to reboot each day so that i can keep the access working from home. I usually keep checking the web service from home in the mornings and during the day. I decided to check the web service this evening (first time i have done so in the evening) and it's gone again. I'm certain that when it reboots itself in the morning all will be well, but has anyone had this trouble before? Any ideas as to what it might be? I plan on checking more regularly in the evenings to see if there is some pattern when it's failing... P.S. i can rule out there being a internet connection issue on site as this is never down when the problem occurs. When the DVR fails, rebooting the router never makes any difference anyway. Only rebooting the DVR fixes the problem. I've also updated the firmware and this has had no effect. Thanks, James.
SectorSecurity 0 Posted July 11, 2012 Is this a Windows based DVR or Linux? If it is Windows take a look at the services.msc snapin and just make sure there are no odd settings.
dahomes555 0 Posted July 12, 2012 Sounds like a defective DVR. Contact manufacturer for support and RMA if necessary. Most Apollo DVR should have 3 yr warranty.
tomcctv 190 Posted July 12, 2012 hi. you could just have a simple problem as a faulty ethernet cable. or you have you DVR and router to far apart from each other.
