Hello,

Newbie to the forum.

Does any one has pin out or wiring diagram for pelco ips cable??

it is pricy. I can buy DB9 and RJ45 plugs and make one if anyone has diagram.

I just made one recently at work, actually, with a serial to RJ-45 adapter. Too bad i won't be back there until late Monday (EST). Once I get into the office, I can check the pin-outs for you. Unless someone beats me to it, that is!

I just made it into the office about an hour ago, sorry about that!

 

I did mine with a null modem cable and THEN a serial to RJ-45, so I had to modify it slightly to get it working without the null modem cable (took about a minute).

 

For end-to-end, you want the pins to do this:

Serial Pin (PC)    RJ45 Pin (camera end)
2                  6
3                  8
5                  2

 

Using a regular patch cable and a FEMALE serial (DE9) to RJ45 adapter, and assuming your serial to RJ45 has the same color wires (I've never seen one that didn't use the same colors), assemble it like so:

Socket Hole     Color Wire
Pin 2           White wire
Pin 3           Yellow wire
Pin 5           Orange wire

 

EDIT: Forgot to add that I use a real serial port, and not a USB-to-serial adapter, so I can not vouch for the functionality of a setup like that.

 

Also, in the Spectra download utility for windows, be sure to pick the correct protocol, the address of the camera (D or P), and the COM port you are plugged into. If you have issues, you may need to adjust your port settings (in device manager, select com port you want to edit) to match the camera settings. I have never needed to do this; Windows is set at 9600,8,N,1, and I just tested a camera with default settings on SW2 (that's 2400).

let me tell you what I have.

1, I do have NULL serial cable.

2, I do have DB9 male connector.

3, I do have RJ-45 with loose cable at the other end.

4, Laptop with db9 serial port, NO USB conversion.

Please let me know how I need to wire between RJ-45 male and DB9 male.

I will use NULL cable from PC to DB9 male.

Null modem cables flip over pins 2 and 3 internally, so this means you just need to invert those two pins when you make the adapter/solder your end.

 

Remember, for end-to-end, you want the pins to do this:

Serial Pin (PC)    RJ45 Pin (camera end)
2                  6 (Green in T568B)
3                  8 (Brown in T568B)
5                  2 (Orange in T568B)

 

If you are soldering the wires to a male DE9, then just using an 8P8C/RJ45 on the other end of the CAT cable, make sure you terminate the CAT as a T568B (normal patch cables almost always are sold/made that way). Then you want to solder the following 3 SOLID COLORED wires (not the white of the pair) on the "loose" end of the CAT cable to the pins on the DE9:

Because you are using a null modem cable, pins 2 and 3 are flipped when making this connection. The end-to-end result will still be the same.

Color Wire        DB9 Pin
Brown             2
Green             3
Orange            5

 

If by any chance this cable does NOT work, flip pins 2 and 3, and I bet it does (also, let me know if you have to flip the pins, and I will amend this post for future searchers).

good news,

I found a cable with female end for DB9.

I will make sure connections are as you described.

I am not IT savvy.

How do I terminate CAT cable??

how do I know if cable is terminated or not.

I know a IT guy, who made me this piece of cable.

He crimped 8 wires in RJ45. and other end is free.

I used piece of serial cable with female end.

pin 2 - Brown

Pin 3 - red

Pin 5 - Yellow.

 

I used piece of CAT cable 568B with RJ45 male end

Pin 6 - solid green

Pin 8 - solid brown

Pin 2 - Solid Orange.

 

This is the way I wired and it worked fine.

Serial Female RJ45 Male

pin 2 Brown Pin 8 brown

Pin 3 Red Pin 6 green

Pin 5 Yellow Pin 2 Orange

i am unable to operate Spectra III with this cable.

I am not sure if it is due to some termination issue??

I don't have any Spectra III here to try it on, so I'm afraid I can't be of much help with this. Maybe someone else here can be of help (I'm looking at you survtech)

I am trying to make myself a cable, do you know the pins that correspond to the video output? 
On the IPS-Cable there is a BNC coax tail coming off it, I assume it went to the unused RJ45 pairs 4 and 5 (blue and white/blue) but not getting video out of it

Do you happen to have a full pin-out of that on board RJ45 port that is built in to the Spectra IV dome drives ?
