Numb-nuts 1 Posted July 3, 2012 I just heard a rumour that Norbain, the UK's biggest distributor of security equipment has gone into receivership. If thats so, I am not sure what the effects on the CCTV industry in the UK will be? It won't affect me to any great extent but there must be repercussions to the industry. groovyman 0 Posted July 3, 2012 The assets were sold to Newbury Investments. Looks like the business will keep going. http://www.business-sale.com/news/article/kpmg-closes-prepack-deal-with-norbain-36507.html http://www.birminghampost.net/birmingham-business/birmingham-business-news/financial-business-news/2012/07/03/birmingham-business-advisors-help-safeguard-250-british-jobs-65233-31305390/
tomcctv 190 Posted July 3, 2012 Norbain. have never been the uk biggest distributor. norbain UK is only a small part of the norbain group. norbain did the same in 2000, with Baxall and again in 2005. and again last friday ...... they close there doors saturday and sunday and trading again monday morning. this means all depts to the likes of panisonic/ sony/ axis/ mobotix dont exist. suppliers owed money they will never see. the best thing to do is not buy from any norbain companies
groovyman 0 Posted July 3, 2012 Wow. Seems to be a pattern with this company. I also wouldn't knowingly support a company that goes bust every 5-7 years. Looks like Norbain is one of them.
Numb-nuts 1 Posted July 3, 2012 There is a lot to be said for continuity of supply and support. Otherwise we'd all be importing our own stuff from China.
