tanikir 0 Posted July 4, 2012 I have some 24v cameras and plenty of empty channels on my 12v power supply. Can I simply wire two channels in a series to obtain 24 volts or would I need a new power supply?
survtech 0 Posted July 5, 2012 No, you can't. In fact, if you try, you'll likely blow the supply. For one thing, 12V power supplies are DC, while 24V power supplies are AC. It's a lot easier (and safer) to use a 24VAC power supply with converters to change the voltage to 12VDC:
the toss 0 Posted July 5, 2012 It will depend on the design of the 12V power supply. If it is in fact just a single supply with multiple O/Ps then when you connect the +ve to -ve to series them you will actually be shorting the O/P
