I can't provide direct feedback on those, but just wanted to say there is a lot of items that upsample CIF to D1. Best idea is to buy from somewhere with a liberal return policy.

Well chinese manufacturer seem to have a lot of imagination ...

I wouldn't have thought at that !

Hi,

I have contacted the chinese usb dvr seller and they all acknowledge that the dvr uses upsampling .

Can someone tell me about D1 upsampled video quality in comparison with D1 and CIF .

Is it worth using 520 tv lines cameras with an upsampler ?

Chinese sellers have sent me a short D1 upsampled video .

Actually it is ok to recognize someone's face at 2/3 meters .

Quality is pretty good and the price low .

In comparison with the 380 tvl cctv camera with CIF videos encoding I've used ,

it is far better .

Upsampling plain and simple is a waste of space. You get no additional quality, it just uses more space.
