IseeYou 0 Posted July 18, 2012 Just wanted to ask the pros - is there an issue with using stranded Cat5e just for testing purposes? Runs would probably be no longer than 25 ft? Planning on just setting up a test bench to play with my new toys. DVR - patch BNC cables - VPS - Cat5e - balun - cams Thanks in advance.
vector18 1 Posted July 19, 2012 If your just testing on a bench, you could use a shoe lace if you want, LOL. I'm sure most of the installers here are even going to tell you that you should be using cat5 for REAL installations, not just for testing.
IseeYou 0 Posted July 19, 2012 Thank you so much! I will be using Cat5 for the install - but with a solid copper core. Just using the cheap stranded for testing for now.
