qkumbr 0 Posted July 24, 2012 Greetings, Our company installs POS systems and camera systems. We've been using the same line of DVRs for years which record in D1/CIF and support POS text overlay, however we'd like to step up to higher quality IP cameras with an NVR. We've been having problems with our DVR vendor in terms of frequent product failures (warranty replacements are like pulling teeth). Our POS software includes a Windows service that outputs POS text to a serial port. So an intercepting piece of hardware between the POS terminal and the printer is not required. I've been google-searching NVRs but can't find one that offers all of the above. Can anyone here recommend a good NVR + camera solution? What would be best is if we could build our own NVR and just load the software on it. We would also like to insource equipment repair/replacement for better customer service. -Easy for clients to use -- just need to search/save recorded footage and search POS text -Cameras should support DC input for power, as opposed to just PoE -POS text overlay feature. Showing POS text and the video feed side-by-side is also acceptable Thanks for your recommendations

Korgoth Of Barbaria 0 Posted July 25, 2012 We use GeoVision with GeoVision GV-Data Capture Box 3E. This Data Capture box can be connected to POS, fuel distributors, scales etc. You can serach video by POS data, but also there is software GV-Web report. It makes online charts from POS data. Soundy 1 Posted July 25, 2012 Vigil can capture POS data via serial port, IP, or read direct from an MSSQL database, and play it back synchronized beside a camera view... exported video from the server or client can then overlay the text on the display.
