nsullivan1 0 Posted August 8, 2012 I was recently told that the DVR5100 can not support megapixel IP cameras. You can only use Pelco Non-megapixel cameras. I don't know if this is true or not. Thats why I need YOUR help!! I was also told you can not use Axis IP cams. This is a really big bummer to me.
ChrisL 0 Posted August 8, 2012 The Pelco DVR5100 was an Endura device that never really got off the ground. As with all Endura equipment you can not use 3rd party cameras, while it does support Pelco IP cameras it doesn't have the throughput or ability to support .h264. The 5100 was used primary in a pro-active situation. You probably would of been happier with Pelco Digital Sentry, which is a software based application (similar to Milestone / OnSsi) that you can download for free from their FTP site and run on any PC (assuming minimum requirements) The software has 4 free License that will work with any 3rd party camera on the Pelco Partner list (most ip cameras) Should you need a hardware solution as well, check out the DSSRV, it runs the Digital Sentry software, and comes with 8 Free license.
