brownleaf 0 Posted August 17, 2012 Need your opinions......buying a new dvr, built in hard drive or swappable hard drives.....??
matjaz 0 Posted August 24, 2012 ideal for CCTV are AV ( audio video) hard drives with 5400 RPM and special firmware made for long sequential chunks of video files with a good termal characteristic. Any temperature over 60 celz. can harm magnetic plates inside hard drive so usual hard drives optimized for daily PC use are not optimal choice . Keeep away from any "green" drives with energy comsuption optimization - they will park write heads way too fast ant that feature in combination with motion detection drived recording will kill them fast. By all means swap rack for HD is better option - in case of police and court action, you can take out HD and always present original recording on HD and not some "backup" on usb key that can be "altered" . Even recorded backup footage on CD can be dismissed on court by good advocate if recording and backup proces was not made by athorized techican (at least this is court practice here)
