Raeza Mazuly 0 Posted August 31, 2012 Hi All, would you please help me. I had a project in Kalimantan Indonesia, while this project will install new 10 PTZ cameras, 2 Fixed Cameras and 10 Dome Cameras. the problem is central equipment to each camera around 600 feet and central equipment to Control room is 500 feet. Please advice: 1) what the best solution for type of cables? Composite or fiber optic 2) do have a separate central equipment? thanks before guys.
tomcctv 190 Posted August 31, 2012 for the distance you talk about a good cat5 is your cheapest option. also if you have not used fiber before.
cliff369 0 Posted August 31, 2012 Ethernet Cat 5/ 5e cabling is rated up to 330' if you go past that without another switch to repeat the signal another 330' then you might have packet loss in your video. Also, is any of the cabling run outside or all inside cabling. Fiber Optic is great for long distances or to limit interference. There are companies that make a copper to fiber converter with PoE if we are talking IP Cameras. Or there are companies that make ethernet extenders which will help push the signal farther for runs past the 330' limitation. just some thoughts.
tomcctv 190 Posted September 1, 2012 Ethernet Cat 5/ 5e cabling is rated up to 330' hi. not if used instead of composit cable. cat5 will give him greater distance.

I have not use fiber for all my project, I am always using Composite Cable ( with 75Ohm Coaxial, Cat5e and Power cable).. if I am using fiber is that any power to be separated? I attach the design, from central equipment to every each PTZ, Fixed camera and Dome camera is 300 - 500 meter, previously I had confirmed to use a Composite Cable (Coax 75Ohm, Cat5e and Power cable) but I look into it, I am very worry if there is a problem with signal according the distance. Now, I want to see, will using fiber optic. Please advice for using fiber optic, what can of equipment need? is it transmitter and receiver for each camera? jkencana 0 Posted January 3, 2013 Its always better and cheaper to use fiber optic cables. Once i tried to use fiber optic for about 3000 metres with media converter ( analog to fiber ), its running very well. The picture quality is the same as 1 metre RG (composite) cables !!
