Razesdark 0 Posted September 20, 2012 *drewling* I wouldn't mind having that lens for my DSLR How much MP is this one ? And I wonder, how much do you actually see at night ?
vector18 1 Posted September 20, 2012 It's a shame you have to cover that up in a housing!
ssmith10pn 0 Posted September 20, 2012 These are only 8mp I will have some night shots by tomorrow. I'm having a hard time getting them like I want because the way they are positioned the boom lift is in the way of the shot and I can't see the finished product until I move the lift out of the way. That is a Canon, 24-70mm, f/2.8, Auto-Iris, Vari Focal. Not recommended for low light.

fran 0 Posted September 22, 2012 so clever, and how is the image quality?
ssmith10pn 0 Posted September 22, 2012 so clever, and how is the image quality? We are going to have to change Lenses. Our target distance was further than expected. 70mm is not enough zoom. We are trying to read tags from a long distance and normal pixel counts for tag reading go out the window due to air quality and heat rise.
GrouchoBoucho 0 Posted September 22, 2012 so clever, and how is the image quality? We are going to have to change Lenses. what a shame... maybe you should send me that one, it would look pretty on my 40d. that's an l-series, too - canon's top line.

vector18 1 Posted September 22, 2012 What is the distance your trying to view?
thewireguys 3 Posted September 22, 2012 I would test it with a 70-200 and then order prime lenses
ssmith10pn 0 Posted September 22, 2012 What is the distance your trying to view? 221' to target. Calculates out to 55ppf. @ 70mm Doesn't seem to be enough for consistent tag reading with such a long distance.
ssmith10pn 0 Posted September 25, 2012 You will have to right click on these links and save as to get the full 7.4MB image. 250' to the fence with the 24-70 on 70. Previous distance calculation was incorrect. http://www.bumracing.com/Gallery3/var/albums/album01/Equipment%20yard-8mp-pro1.jpg?m=1348536643 http://www.bumracing.com/Gallery3/var/albums/album01/Equipment%20yard-8mp-pro2.jpg?m=1348536643
