Termininating Cameras & Connections

Recommended Posts

Hi.

Whats the proffered way to terminate connections for IP cameras and analog cameras with Baluns?

FOR IP:

Do you prefer to terminate connections from the camera to a patch panel?

Or is it better to terminate to an rj45 plug and connect the plug to POE switch?

FOR ANALOG:

How is advisable to terminate in large camera count applications (48+)

Thanks.

i'd terminate everything in a patch panel, whether ip or analog... then you can easily plug in whichever type of camera you want. just patch to baluns on the head end.

Terminating to RJ45 plugs is usually frowned on. Handmade male RJ45 connections are a common source of problems. Better to terminate to jacks (female) and use M-M patch cables.

Any advice on which panel to use. We are making a design for 48+ camera counts.

Whats the best way to terminate connections on the camera end?

For the analog component of system is their a bnc patch panel?

Lots of argument there. Some say terminate with a female and use a patch cable to the camera. Others say it's acceptable to terminate the camera end with a male. You pays your money and you takes your chances.

Many:

One Visit Media

Hyperline

Markertek

Canare

Do a web search for "BNC Patch Panel" or "Coaxial Patch Panel".
