rkninc 0 Posted September 20, 2012 Hi. Whats the proffered way to terminate connections for IP cameras and analog cameras with Baluns? FOR IP: Do you prefer to terminate connections from the camera to a patch panel? Or is it better to terminate to an rj45 plug and connect the plug to POE switch? FOR ANALOG: How is advisable to terminate in large camera count applications (48+) Thanks.
the toss 0 Posted September 20, 2012 For large installations it's always going to be better to terminate on a patch panel for tidyness , cable management, flexibility of use and ease of maintenance
GrouchoBoucho 0 Posted September 21, 2012 i'd terminate everything in a patch panel, whether ip or analog... then you can easily plug in whichever type of camera you want. just patch to baluns on the head end.

survtech 0 Posted September 21, 2012 Terminating to RJ45 plugs is usually frowned on. Handmade male RJ45 connections are a common source of problems. Better to terminate to jacks (female) and use M-M patch cables.
