Jasper 0 Posted November 29, 2005 Do they have anything like cheap IR? Is there any particular bulb that emits more IR light than others. So us poor folks can have some light at night.
rory 0 Posted November 30, 2005 Halogen Bulb - but there is more to it than just the bulb. Also here is a new Speco Bullet: "Split Glass Technology to avoid IR reflections" - so they claim http://www.specotech.com/cart/products/productDetails.asp?prodid=790 As for the halo effect, the lens is not close enough to the glass, or the ring is not stopping the IR from getting into the lens area and causing reflection on the lens. I had it way back when with the Speco BW IR camera, simply adjusted the camera's guts and was okay then, it was also white ones with white sunshields. no halo effects. Also someone mentioned the Sunshield causing the problem, and that also makes sense .. reflection onto the lens from the IR. If you have IR hitting anything too close to the camera it can reflect back onto the lens and cause issues. With the Extreme gear it typically just blinds the whole view as its so powerful, compared to the bullet cameras, plus the Extreme gear (UF500) will catch the object on fire if too close (within 3 feet approx) . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halo_effect
