planters49 0 Posted October 4, 2012 I'm looking to install a compete security camera system on my property, but want to use only one run of cat 6 cable to connect each camera to the DVR. Samsung sells a kit that will allow this. Are those good or does somebody else make something that connects the dvr to the cameras with cat 6 cable? The reason for using cat 6 cable is that I have a ton of it left over from wiring up my house and I already have drops in a home run configuration that I'd like to use. yakky 0 Posted October 4, 2012 You can just buy baluns and power adapters and do this with any system.
jakesoundels 0 Posted October 4, 2012 This will give you an idea of the different types. Basically you use one pair for video (I always use blue/white blue)and the the other two for power. Some guys leave the forth pair for a spare but you can use that for power as well. http://www.easterncctv.com/accessories/balun-p.htm
