Power supply issue with Response TV2000 system

Recommended Posts

I have an old Response TV2000 system in my home, and needed to replace the power supply recently. I'm now using a Uniross AAA00026 power supply to replace the original Response unit, but I needed to snip off the DC connector plug and twist/connect the cables together as the original Response power supply had a plug socket to accommodate the power lead from the camera, and I couldn't find another power supply with a plug socket.

The camera was working fine, but now I find that it stops working after a couple of hours. If I unplug the power supply then plug it back in the camera works again.

The Uniross specs are more or less the same as the original Response unit:

- Response: Output 12v DC 300mA

- Uniross: Output 12v DC 1A

Could the disrepancy in the current rating between the two units explain the problem? Alternatively, could the cable connection be the problem? (I twisted the cables together and soldered the joint before securing with insulating tape).
