Currently, a consulting company (medical), clients have trust in us and we have a great reputation. We have been asked by a number of our clients and other business associates to do camera installations for them. Why, you might ask? Simply put they trust the work that we have been doing and when we have been asked to consult/opinions on other projects. We have been dead on, we do our homework and have always brought in the right people, to do what has been asked. Thru ASIS, we have meet and found a number of vendors that we can work with for equipment and supplies. Our real problem is the Labor cost of a project. We will most likely start out using subs, so we want to make sure of the labor costs. Are there any spreadsheets or software for the industry that we could use? We are in the Tristate area. cbodbyl 0 Posted October 12, 2012 There's no software to do that type of calculation. It all comes down to experience. Like any trade you can pay a contractor very little to do a very bad job in a very short time period. Or you can pay a lot of money to have a contractor hide every little wire and create a beautiful system that never has any problems but it will take a lot more time and $. What are your standards? Each sub contractor is going to give you a different hourly rate. Ask to see a couple of their jobs so you can see their workmanship and then decide from there who you think is worth their wage. Ask them how much they would charge you to do those jobs, divide their price by the number of cameras in the installation and you should be able to develop a rough estimate for your labor costs. jeromephone 6 Posted October 12, 2012 Train your own people if you can then you have more control.. Estiminating the labor is always the tough part of figuing jobs. IF you can hire and experienced person with the right attitude and maybe cross train him or her on the other parts of your business.
