nfr 0 Posted October 17, 2012 I'm looking to buy my first DVR. I wanted to do things well and from reading forum posts and research I finally thought I'd settled on a Apollo DVR, but then when I actually try to buy one it seems nearly imposible. I believe ADATA are the official UK distributor, but when I rang them a while back they would not sell to me as I was not a trade customer. There appears to be few other places that stock them in the uk. A site specialising in light bulbs!! seemed to originally selling them, but isnt any more. I rang them and they told me supply was completely irratic so they had stopped. Then there appears to be much confusion over the branding and the models. Support also seems questionable. I've been planning to set a system up for months now, and each time a hurdle gets in the way and stops me. I'm beginning to question why I dont simply go out and buy something that is widely available via the internet or local shops such as a Swann. I imagine for the more experienced on this forum this might seem like a completely nieve approach but lets assume I set up a Dahua DVR and a Swann DVR with exactly the same cameras. What is the Dahua going to give that is way better than the Swann. Can anyone comment or my observationss including any recomendations of some other good alternatives, that are widely available in the uk. I'm working on a budget of about £250 for the DVR Thanks Nick
coolie11 0 Posted October 28, 2012 Not sure if it's widely available in the UK, but I would go with Dahua, because it's been tried and proven to be reliable and stable for many years now, plus support is widely available. Not to mention, it supports all platforms for remote monitoring and playback even on a smartphone.
