gcan 0 Posted October 24, 2012 I just purchased a new computer and I can not log into my CCTV DVR at our vacation home. I can log in on my wifes computer so I know it's a matter of getting it set up. I've gone into the security settings and "enabled" activeX, the same as I did with my oldl computer. This is driving me crazy. I can get to the log in prompt and after entering the usernams and password it says "log in failed" I am running windows 7 on both computers. My new computer has standard and 64 bit Explorer and I've tried both. Any suggestions??
coolie11 0 Posted October 28, 2012 Make, Model? Is IE versions on both PC's the same? Try running standard IE as Administrator.
gcan 0 Posted October 30, 2012 I have the CCTV installed on 3 dell lap tops and the desk top I had before I purchased the new Dell unit. All run IE with windows 7 32 bit....I also tried the 64 bit version. Sorry but what do you mean "run standard IE as the admin? Thank you for the response

gcan 0 Posted November 1, 2012 tried it...nothing.... doesn't even go to the log in screen. I have the CCTV system on 3 other computers but the crazty thing is I can't get it to work on my new desk top home PC. I really believe I have a software issue with this new Dell computer I can't get the DVR to load, have had trouble with e-mail, outlook keeps giving me an error message......what a pain this new computer has been
vector18 1 Posted November 1, 2012 Have you tried putting the dvr URL in your trusted sites?
gcan 0 Posted November 9, 2012 Got it working - I worked with Dell tech support for 4+ hours over 2 days and finally can view my CCTV system on my new computer. They tried everything, took the computer back to factory settings, reloaded all software, researched the error messages and then were trying to give up saying it wasn't the computer. I kept telling them the remote access worked on my lap top and also on the desk top the new computer replaced..... Bottom line while on hold with a supervisor I tried it on the IE 256bit version enabled the Active-x, paused all security and the remote access loaded. I now have full access as long as I use the 256 version of IE....the 64bit version will not access. I will say Dell tech support worked very hard trying to assist
Kawboy12R 0 Posted November 9, 2012 You mean that IE using 64 bit encryption won't work with your dvr using either the 32 or 64 bit version of Windows 7 but the 256 bit encrypted version works fine? If so it makes sense. 128 bit has been a minimum in my mind for quite a while and I'm kinda surprised that there is a modern browser with 64 bit encryption still manually selectable somehow. Did I understand the fix properly? Because my IE on the 64 bit version of Windows 7 is running 256 bit cipher strength by default. I've never looked to see if I could select 64 bit cipher strength. gcan 0 Posted November 10, 2012 Sorry but I don;t know much about Cipher strength what I do know is that in my start menu when I open up the Internet Explorer (64 bit) I can not access my CCTV but when I open the other Internet Explorer in the start menu, shows 256 under properties, then I can access my CCTV system. Honestly I don't know the difference I just know it took me a couple of weeks to discover this and Dell Tech never did try it....and now I can access my DVR Maybe this will help somebody down the road
gcan 0 Posted November 11, 2012 Holy Crap!!!!! I get up this morning and first thing again I can not access my DRV at our cabin. I get to the log in screen enter my logia dna password and it comes back with a message "failed to login" Any ideas? Why is this new Dell causing such a problem....I can still access it on 2 lap tops just not my home desktop
