AVTECH Wireless AVN812 IP Camera Review

Recommended Posts

Been using mine since I reviewed it in February. Wish it had an SD card slot like it's brother, the AVN80X. When do you think they'll come out with some new cameras? Would love to see an 1080P PoE outdoors camera from them, a good competitor to Dahua.

Also, found that NVR+ software works really well with AVTech and also supports Dahua cameras. I don't like Dahua's indoor camera offerings, and not seen AVTech's outdoor PoE capabilities, so it's good that there's NVR software that supports both.

Thanks for the review. Just wondering how the PIR's sensor worked out for you? It says 6 meters, but i've tested this before on a similar LG model(LW130W) and it barely detected anything beyond 2 meters. Can you test this for us? I find the PIR feature important and if it works properly, should remove a lot of false positive detections.

TIA!

That's always been the problem with AVTech, they don't really have a distribution channel in the U.S. and some resellers pick them up for a short time and then drop them and can't tell you why.

There seems to be two sellers on Amazon, not for the avn812, but the avn80X. Search Amazon for AVTech and you'll see it's the first one and there's 2 sellers. I would contact those sellers and see if they can get you the models you want.

The other place of course is eBay and there seems to be more there and curiously and avn813 which is an avn812 with an SD card slot.

I tried it this weekend and the PIR sensor triggered at about 15' away from the camera. It may go further but I'm limited in testing to the size of the room.

Around 5 meters detection range on mine, slighly less on my AVN80X but that may be due to the way its located, but remember the AVN series have I/O pins for external pir/sensors.
