Angel1403 0 Posted October 29, 2005 Hi, I have just installed the above card, dsp card and hybrid card in a Pentium 4 1.5gh pc with 760 ram. Its running Win XP Pro SP2. I am using Geo software ver 7.4 The cards seem to be installed ok. However, when I start the Geovision sofware the system freezes when the Geo software says " Multicam Setup Initializing" The only thing I can do is push the power button to shut down the system. Any ideas. Is this due to my PC being below the min spec of 2gh? Thanks for any help. Cheers Allan
scottj 0 Posted October 29, 2005 What video card are you using? Hopefully not onboard video Scottj
rory 0 Posted October 29, 2005 Also, Whats your Motherboard Chipset? Must be Intel or SIS. Whats The CPU speed and Memory?
Angel1403 0 Posted October 30, 2005 Thanks for the replys. Its a Intel P4 Motherboard and a GForce 2 with 32mb video card. Could it be that the GForce 2 cant cope? Cheers Allan
scottj 0 Posted October 30, 2005 swap the board if you can, minimum 128MB and also the ability to support DirectX 9.0. I recommend an ATI 9600 or greater. Scottj
Angel1403 0 Posted October 30, 2005 Hi Scott, Thanks for getting back to me. I will change the video card and see if that does the trick. If no joy, I will also change the m board. Cheers Allan
scottj 0 Posted October 30, 2005 The mainboard should not be the issue. I would imagine that it is a Intel Chipset? If you have the exact mainboard model number, I can tell you what is causing the hangup. Also, if the mainboard has onboard video, you MUST disable it in the BIOS when using the Hybrid Card. Angel1403 0 Posted October 30, 2005 Hi Scott, Thanks............. I will see if I can find the model number of the m board later today. Its 01.30am in Scotland..........So I am off to bed. Thanks for your help. Cheers Allan.
qman 0 Posted October 30, 2005 It has to be the video card, 32meg ram seems to be too low for that card. Also, make sure that your display settings are at 32bit color.
Angel1403 0 Posted October 30, 2005 Hi Guys, I could not get a ATI 9600 I got an ATI X700 with 250mb ram However, the same problem, it freezes at the multi cam set up screen. My motherboard number is Intel D850GB Thanks for any help. Allan.
Jasper 0 Posted October 30, 2005 The new video card you just got is a good one. So now that issue is eliminated. Have you tried? Reinstalling the software? Made sure all the GEO software is the same version? Anybody know about the motherboard?
Angel1403 0 Posted October 30, 2005 Hi Jasper, I deleted the 7.04 software and re installed it. The same problem. I then deleted the 7.04 software and loaded the 7.02 software. The same problem Now I am really frustrated. I am almost at the stage of taken the cards out and puting them into a different pc. Though, I dont want to do that unless I must, as the other pc is too high of spect just to use for cctv. Cheers Allan
Angel1403 0 Posted October 30, 2005 I forgot to say I use Norton Anti Viris and Windows XP SP2 Firewall. Cheers Allan
rory 0 Posted October 30, 2005 unininstall nortons first of all ..
Jasper 0 Posted October 30, 2005 Is the PC with the GEO free of all other software other than the GEO and any other necessary software? The fewer programs on the system other than the GEO stuff the better. You can try disabling Norton or remove it entirely, it can wreak havoc. Sounds like you may have a software conflict. You need to eliminate all unnecessary software before proceeding. Backup your system before doing that though.
Angel1403 0 Posted October 30, 2005 Hi Guys, Yea very little other stuff on the system. I will delete all thats not needed. I will update following. Cheers Allan

Jasper 0 Posted October 30, 2005 I am about ready to let you do that with me. I can't get this Remote Playback to work, dogone it. _____________________________________________________ Have you gone into the device manager to make sure the hardware is working properly and that there are not conflicts? scottj 0 Posted October 30, 2005 That is a great video card for the boards you are using Angel, still freezing though? Have yout tried removing the Hybrid board and then booting up? If not, try this first before swapping out any additional components. Scottj
scottj 0 Posted October 30, 2005 Jasper, what is the problem you are having with the RPB feature? Maybe I can be of some assistance to you.
Jasper 0 Posted October 30, 2005 I will start a new thread. Thanks. ________________________________________ The Geo software is the only thing that locks up on you right? Other software on the system works ok? No other problems going on with the system you forgot to mention?
Angel1403 0 Posted October 30, 2005 Yea, Its only the Geovision that locks up. Only other software is MS Office 2003 and Photoshop CS. Cheers Allan
rory 0 Posted October 30, 2005 Make sure office and photochop arent runing on start up .. check msconfig. The only software I put on a DVR is the DVR Software, and VNC. Also, any printers installed?? The all in ones can cause problems also.
Jasper 0 Posted October 30, 2005 Have you tried relocating the GEO card to another available PCI slot? Sometimes I have done this with hardware that wasn’t working and it worked in a different PCI slot.
Jasper 0 Posted October 30, 2005 Leave the PC case open when you try changing slots. Because at this point you might want to try the card in another PC, just to make sure the card isn’t bad? Or having some other type of issue with the current system? Have you had this card working previously?
