CPU usage per camera using MILESTONE Client

Recommended Posts

Hi ! So I'm using Milestone for the first time and running their Smart Client in decent HP workstation. The thing is that i can't use that unit for anything else, it is really slow. Im handling 4 monitors here with 2 QUADRO 380 FX

Any idea how much CPU and/or memory does it require ?? I've been doing some research myself and it seems that i can show up to 6 cameras /display gives a fair performance but i have 60 cameras in this system (ip, axis, mostly 1MP, 3MP, even some 5MP)

Havent had any support from milestone yet, been waiting TOO long and yet here i am . Really hope you can give me some advice !!

The biggest issue with Milestone is that by default, the client tries to display full resolution, full frame rate images, even in split screen modes where a lower resolution setting is not noticeable, and uses a much lower amount of processing power.

In the smart client, go to the setup tab, and select the cameras, and try setting the resolution down from full to high or super high. The difference isn't usually noticeable in the split screen, and you'll have much better performance.
