KGuard SHA108.v2 crashes when i connect a camera

I have a kguard sha108 dvr which has worked fine for 14 months

 

now when i connect a camera the whole system crashes, the output of the camera shows on the live passthough but the unit is totally unresponsive to any inputs. even the clock overlay on the split screen stops.

 

if i dont have any cameras connected i can get into the menu as normal but as soon as I attach any cameras, instant crash.

 

thinking this may be a firmware bug but i cant see any way of upgrading it, downloaded what I belive was the firmware but when i select update from the menu then i just get a message, no update file found.

 

 

any ideas with this?
