Pictures from my ip web cam to my email are smeared?

Recommended Posts

I have a Wansview ip camera. It is setup for wireless operation. I just monitor the garage. It is setup for motion to send 6 frames to my email. At times when I look at the pictures they are smeared. (Like a race car going down the street at a high rate of speed and your picture is blurred because you shutter speed wasn’t fast enough). What would cause this?

Also I’m sure the Wansview isn’t the best quality. What would you recommend that I purchase to correct the problem? Or what should I look for in an ip camera?

What I do know about IP smearing, is that CCD has a smearing issue, whereas CMOS is better. Of course there are also issues with CMOS that CCD doesn't. Well, that 's about the extent of my knowledge on this issue.

Typical cause of this is... your shutter speed isn't fast enough.

Are these pics taken in the dark, or bright light? If there's plenty of light, there may be some other issue, but if it's low light, it's likely too long an exposure. Even with IR, the maximum exposure time is often too long to give better picture quality (unless there's movement).

Many cams allow you to set the minimum exposure speed, which will prevent motion blur, but will make the picture darker and/or noisier. I set all my cams at 1/30 second max exposure, since blurred pics are useless to me.

I'm a fan of the Dahua cams. They're more expensive than the Wansview, and while they have their own issues with software and support, they're far above Wansview, Foscam, and the like.
