pipabix 0 Posted January 27, 2013 Tell me this, i'm in desperate need to get my study of CCTV set in one direction, analogue/digital cost is the main factor, i want to go IP-MP but not sure at all of the cost of a camera that would meet my expectations. what i need to know is what ill be paying per cam in USD. requirements Outdoor can be dome or bullet IR outside my house is black black.. I mean no street lighting. maybe there isn't an IP cam for this yet id expect if paying for a IP cam with 1.3-3 mp . . be it 720/1080 id be having crystal clear pic. or would be acceptable to monitor a home, clearly see and recognise someone within 20 ft of the cam. . also motion detection is desirable while I know the NVR is another factor, the cost on cams adds up fast. ive seen some people say here a nice 1.3mp cam 720 for $150 . . . is good, then another place saying u need to spend over $300 to get anything decent. bigglebowski 0 Posted January 27, 2013 One mistake I think a lot of people make is worrying too much about the image the camera produces when there are many other things that need to be considered. $150-300 pricing is probably entry level decent when referring to an indoor MP-IP cams with minimal features. When you start talking about poor lighting AND outdoors the price can climb dramatically. So yes there are great IP cams that can perform well in the dark whether its from their own IR lighting or from an IR illuminator depending on how much area needs to be lit. If cost really is the main factor then analog is probably your best choice, $300 will get you a lot more per camera than with IP.
