pipabix 0 Posted January 27, 2013 I have one cat5e cable to a certain point in the house? however, i think i might have 2 cameras at this location. . . did i read some where on the site that you could have 2 IP/network cameras on a single cat5e cable? POE powered as well?
thewireguys 3 Posted January 27, 2013 All you need to do is add a switch at your camera location where you want to add another camera. Plug cat5e cable into switch Plug cameras into switch
pipabix 0 Posted January 27, 2013 great, handy to know. and you can still record simultaneously from both cams?
thewireguys 3 Posted January 27, 2013 Yes that is no problem as long as you have enough channels on your NVR
vkumar 0 Posted January 28, 2013 It depends on many variables... like camera resolution, video encoding, amount of motion, cross/straight cable, and using poe or not. But in any condition you can use 10 cameras easily. Just use a switch. Without any losses.
