joehome395 0 Posted January 31, 2013 I'm looking to run 8 cameras 780 feet. The cameras are 700tvl-if that makes a difference. I plan on using rg59 18/2 Siamese cable. Will it be ok to run power and video 780 feet directly from camera to the dvr?
the toss 0 Posted January 31, 2013 You are pretty much on the limit for RG59. One thing I would do is use 24Vac cameras.
joehome395 0 Posted February 1, 2013 I'm looking into using localized power by the cameras, but I don't know if the RG59 will send the video back that far. Anyone know a way I can run cable straight between the dvr and cameras- price is not an issue.

joehome395 0 Posted February 2, 2013 Would fiber be an option? And if so do you know any good suppliers. I really need the camera runs to be prefect.
survtech 0 Posted February 2, 2013 Fiber is darned expensive. For example, the ComNet FVT11MAC 1-camera transmitter lists at around $830.
joehome395 0 Posted February 10, 2013 Do i have any other options?
jeromephone 6 Posted February 10, 2013 Look into IP more resolution and you could make one fiber run use a couple of switches with fiber ports on them. You would end up scrapping the cameras but overall you would get plenty of bandwith to expand later. You could also keep your cameras and use a converter from analog to IP. 6 strand fiber should cost around 1.00 a foot if you are buying it yourself connectors sc/st/lc around 15.00 ea you would have labor installing of course. I would look into pre terminated fiber you can order exactly the length you want and it comes factory terminated on both ends you have to be a little more carefull pulling but it would save you time. joehome395 0 Posted February 11, 2013 Could you provide any products that would get the job done?
ChrisP 0 Posted February 13, 2013 Hire someone locally who can help you. This way he or she makes an honest living plus you get it done right the first time.
joehome395 0 Posted February 13, 2013 I would really like to learn and do the install myself. Here is a birds eye view of my the project.
