wany 0 Posted February 3, 2013 Hello, I am new to the video surveillance field. I have setup surveillance system before but I need help picking out a good priced system to perform the following. I need to setup a video surveillance system for a small business. What I am hoping to acheive: 1) DVR support 8 camera port 2) I need the system to be able to record at a rate that you can recognize faces. I am guessing a D1 recording would be fine. 3) 4 camera are out door. (guessing 600TVL would be good) 3 of the camera need to cover a distance of 60-70 feet 1 camera covers a distance of 30-40feet 4) 4 indoor camera, I currently have those they are 480TVL each, I've used these before they are quite good to me I notice they are so many brand and so many variations. I read reviews and they all seem quite vague and I can't get any good feedback from some the reviews. I am really hoping someone could point me in the direction to a good standalone DVR system for this task Thanks

wany 0 Posted February 3, 2013 My computer skill are quite high. Don't worry about the installation part I can handle electronic system from embedded system all the way up to wiring crane harness. I am looking to spending $700 max. Yes I would like to be able to see faces, most of our employees we know quite well so very detail faces know, but I want to be able to tell john from harry. I have been looking at some video of D1 recording @7FPS using 600TVL it seems quite adequate.
