Recording a short clip, and streaming right away

Recommended Posts

Hey folks,

I'm new to CCTV and IP cameras so really appreciate any advice you guys can give.

We're opening a dance studio and would like to use our interior security IP cameras to also record the students as they rehearse for performances. So, we would initiate a full-quality record (1080P 30fps), let it record for about 5 minutes, and then immediately stream it to an iPad or Android tablet.

Additionally, I'm thinking the Dahua IPC-HDB3200C. Can you imagine the recording quality of this to be much worse/better than a simple HD camcorder?

I'm pretty sure this is possible (definitely with custom software), but just curious if any of the off-the-shelf NVRs or DVR softwares can do this? I don't have any equipment purchased yet, hence I can't try a simple trial.

Thanks folks,

Popatlal

An IPC-HDB3200C is not like a camcorder, for one, there's no microphone, no audio in. Do you need audio? Second, it's going to write video in it's own propriatory format, so you need to use their player app to view it and use it to convert to AVI. It will also write to it's internal SD card slot, but you need to use their PSS software to view it. You can FTP but it's a complex directory structure so you'll need to find the event and find the recording by playing each one until you find it. Also, how will you trigger the recording? You can have it automatically record where there's motion but I would imagine it will record all day long as people move around the studio. It does not have alarm inputs so you can put a switch in your studio that activates recording.

Your best bet is to use a camcorder.
