Cableguy007 0 Posted February 23, 2013 After an installation of the QT4532 DVR with 12 cameras. Everything worked fine for 4 days...The 5th day of operation owner was called into business because fire alarms were triggered from the attic office unit where the DVR is located. There is an electrical burning smell left in the office. He disconnected the unit from the wall. I later inspected it and saw no visible damage anywhere. I booted the unit back up and all was working well except one video channel. The unit is being returned regardless and checked out. Am i just unlucky? I have the same identical kit at my own home and never had an issue. Could there be any external situations or installation errors that could cause this? The unit simply plugs into the wall, No electrical work was done. or do I simply have a defect?
SectorSecurity 0 Posted February 26, 2013 Sounds like a wire got caught in a fan and the system wasn't / cant be set to power down if it gets to hot. All I can say is I hope your insurance is paid up. Or it may have possibly been an electrical surge, instead of plugging directly into the wall spend $10 and get a surge protector power bar and plug into that.
