smokey 0 Posted November 12, 2005 I'm involved in the installation of a Pelco Spectra III CCTV sysem. WE are using Crest passive baluns and a Crest active receiver for video transmission. We will be using the existing cabling as well as running some new Cat 5. New Cat 5 will used from MDF/IDF to the cameras. The cable between buildings will be something less than Cat 5 I'm concerned about the quality of the video. The existing wiring will go through a few 66 and 110 punch blocks. This is a campus type system with buildings connected with underground cable. (It's in pipe, not direct burial.) The longest run will be around 2500 feet. This is my first video system using using twisted pair for video. We are also using this same existing wiring for the PTZ control of the C2449M-A Pelco domes. Will I have any problems with the PTZ control with this wire? Any advice from those experienced in twisted pair video would be greatly appreciated.
