aar6on67 0 Posted February 26, 2013 Yes, this is my first post to this forum as I am new to the video surveillance world. Preface: I will be using a 4-8 IP camera setup for home surveillance. I found this camera company when trying to find a cheap chinese 5mp IP camera. BL-IR800E-C50 5.0 Megapixel Infrared Dome Camera 2592×1920@10FPS 1/2.5"CMOS http://aebell.us/en/productinfo.asp?id=476&proclass1_en_id=2&proclass2_en_id=15&proclass3_en_id=92 I found them through alibaba and had to request a quote for the price. $165.60 for the indoor dome with IR! $176.90 for the outdoor bullet with IR. I'm thinking this might be too good to be true. I figure most of the cameras are made in China anyways, but I have found ZERO reviews or even mentions of this brand ANYWHERE. This youtube video makes it seem like the company is huge Has anyone heard of this brand? Purchased the cameras? Sample day/night video quality? Also, is there any NVR that can record 4-8 cameras of 5mp video at 10fps? Thanks for your help!

buellwinkle 0 Posted February 26, 2013 When you buy no-name cameras, you will have to invest a lot of time to figure out how to make it work with any NVR, may not work with any. Also, you do know this camera is not PoE, meaning you have to separately run power to it, can be annoying. As for price, that's average, not too high, not low for a Chinese camera. Check out IPSCam and Aote, both make 5MP cameras in this price range. Is one better? Who knows. I would ask them if they offer a PoE version of this camera and if they will let you connect to a demo cam to view what it's like during the day and at night. Most will. Also ask what NVRs or NVR software will work with their cameras. Also ask what their warranty is, how pays postage, what's the turnaround time if the camera breaks. If you want a name brand 5MP camera, check out the new ACTi cameras. The ones that start with "D" are their lower cost cameras. I think some of them are in the $250ish range. ACTi is supported by many NVR's and NVR software. They also provide very good NVR software for free for their cameras. Also, from my experience, 5MP cameras have pretty poor low light capability as the pixels are smaller to fit on the same sized sensor as say a 1MP camera. So it's a trade off, not just a price difference.
aar6on67 0 Posted February 26, 2013 That's 8 min of my life wasted that I will never get back Haha. I didn't mean for people to watch the entire video. It was the only other evidence of their company besides their website. I'm sure id get plenty of things to read about the company if I could speak chinese. The bullet version has POE as an option. As for the sensor size it seems like all of the 5MP cameras on the market have this 1/2.5" or similar size sensor. Even the $1500 axis cameras. (obviously with higher quality optics). So are you saying most of the 5MP cameras on the market have poor low light quality? Thanks for the recommendations! stevemc1979 0 Posted February 27, 2013 I have the Aote 5635G bullet camera with 6mm lens. This "G" version is 3MP@17fps plus it has a WDR ability. If you look for my other post, I have day and night videos linked. The night video does have some noise in it but, the image is still very useable. The learning curve is a bit steep. Figuring out the settings and streaming info took some time. I got it to work with Blue Iris but, the file sizes are huge (6x bigger) compared to the software supplied with the camera. The motion detection is done by the camera itself so you won't need a high horsepower PC to act as an NVR. I have another camera with a 3.6 mm lens on its way. There are better cameras out there. I'm a cheap ass so I tried the Chinese OEM route. I paid $200 shipped. I believe POE can be added for $20ish. Iam perfectly satisfied with my camera.

I'm really glad you took the risk an bought those cameras and posted the samples online! That was the only reason I was holding back from the aebell. Zero sample videos to look at. The only thing I noticed missing in your night shots were people. I was wondering how they reacted to moving humans and if they looked washed out like some cameras do. Can you see facial detail? How does it react to headlights at night? Can you turn off the WDR? or is it a hardware thing that can't be turned off. I was wondering if you could tell a difference with it on and off. Now that you brought aote to my attention, I might switch chinese brands.
stevemc1979 0 Posted March 1, 2013 The WDR can be set off/on/timer. I will work on posting a night video with a person. This camera doesn't really face any headlights. There is a difference with WDR on. WDR on http://db.tt/CrS4xlpP WDR off http://db.tt/q4c6BuV3
euclidean 0 Posted October 10, 2013 Hi stevemc1979 I have on of Aote's IP cams and am having a terrible time of it. Would you be able to help? Not too much of the settings are in the manual so its these unmentioned that are causing me grief. As for you the picture is good. The WDR totally overcome vehicle headlights and sun glare, so good in for that. My first difficulty is setting up the motion alarm settings. I understand the general principle of Sensitivity and threshold, but no matter what I adjust, the cam triggers on everything.....or nothing under the video encode, did you workout what the base setting was for? very grateful if you have a moment,
