alan0259 0 Posted February 27, 2013 I'm looking to use a cheap PC as a DVR system to put in my loft. I've been recommended a high resolution outdoor camera (650 TVL?) that I believe comes with BNC connections. Can I just buy any PCI capture card (with BNC) to plug the camera straight into? Or are there any gotchas to watch out for? I'm just wanting the one camera (must be clear, outdoor, and night vision). Looking to use free DVR software off the internet. Cheers. EarlT 0 Posted February 27, 2013 You can probably find a used Avermedia NV3000 for cheap and use it in your old computer. They have software that works decent and I never had to pay for it. You can run 4 cameras off that board.
Kawboy12R 0 Posted February 28, 2013 If it's just one camera then why not use a network camera? You'll put the cost of the dvr card into a higher definition camera that'll run off the same computer.
