cah027 0 Posted February 28, 2013 Is there any routers that work best for NVR/ip cams ? I just have a cheap airlink N300mbps(wireless, 100mbps wired) router now. Might need to upgrade to gigabit at least.. Thanks
Voipmodo 0 Posted February 28, 2013 We normally use Cisco gigabit POE Switches and for routers have had good luck with the Cradlepoint units. I like the Cradlepoints as they are dual wan and have options for 3G/4G for failover.
Machineman 0 Posted February 28, 2013 I've used cradlepoint N300 Mobile wireless routers and D-Link N300 wireless routers. Both work fine and have all the options needed to open ports or virtual server. The worst router is the 2Wire ATT DSL router. Opening ports is painful and it often resets the ports. But for some includeing my primary home its the only option for DSL in my area. In many cases your router will be connected to a switch, then your cams and NVR connected to the same switch. So the router may not be so relevant unless your using wireless cameras. Not sure at what point a gigabite switch will be needed over a 10/100M switch, 5 or 10 or more 1mp cams connected?
