Setting up a simple CCTV system, a few questions

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I work operate cranes and one of the things that's important in cranes in being able to see the drum of wire rope, and being able to let out very small amounts. Well the crane I'm working on now doesn't have mirrors and it's impossible to get a mirror in there. So I heard some operators use surveillance cameras and a CCTV system to see it. So really what I need is:

2 Weatherproof Cameras

Cables (what type?)

A CCTV that has split screen

if you can help me in any way i'll be in your debt!

Assuming this is going to be analog, any outdoor rated camera preferably one that is labeled "vandal" so it will take some abuse. Should be able to use coax with power (siamese) should do if there will be movement than a higher quality cable will have better flexing ability. For the monitor I have seen inexpensive rear view cam type monitors that are ready to be mounted in vehicles that can do split or quad screens.

Something like this if you want to keep it cheap: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Erisin-ES315-7-Digital-Quad-Split-Screen-Monitor-Sunshade-Reversing-Camera-Kit-/130867271813?pt=US_Rear_View_Monitors_Cams_Kits&hash=item1e784c1885

AgCam or CabCam. AgCam is better, CabCam is cheaper. Both are designed for use in industrial vehicles to view places the operator can't see. If quality isn't that important, just about any cheapo backup camera on FleaBay can be rigged up on a switch instead of triggering via the backup lights.
