Piran 0 Posted March 23, 2013 For various reasons my router cannot receive the wifi signals from my Foscam IP camera, due to the number of walls in between. The camera resolution is only vga, but if I use 20 metres of cat5e (gold plated) to connect to the router instead of wifi will this be degraded?

Piran 0 Posted March 24, 2013 Thanks for replies folk, what I really wanted to know was, will the camera performance be degraded by 20 metres of cat5e cable? Seems a long way for video with just twisted wires.
Kawboy12R 0 Posted March 24, 2013 Cat5e is good for 100m with no issues according to the specifications. I've heard of longer runs working but 100m is the spec. 20m is a breeze. The twist in the wires is great for noise rejection and reliability.
