Response CA5 glare

Recommended Posts

Hi, I've had a Friedland Response system installed for about 2-3 years. Initially the night vision was great, very clear. The local authority changed the street lighting and since then the night vision has been unusable. As night approaches, the image just gets brighter and the contrast decreases to next to nothing.

The cameras don't point directly at any lights but wherever there is the slightest reflection at dusk, say from a parked car, the image flares out.

Is there anything I can do to improve the image, in terms of filters etc. I don't think re-pointing the cameras will make any difference in that both of them have the same problem and neither point directly at a light.

For info, the street lighting was previously a very warm orange colour (which was fine with my cameras), now a much brighter pale orange. If I had to guess, I would say they have changed from low pressure sodium to high pressure sodium types.

Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing there is no OSM in the camera so things can't be tweaked? Is the street the only source of light in the picture? Perhaps adding your own exterior light will change the balance of things in the cameras favor. Other than that, maybe it's time for a camera upgrade with on screen menus to adjust your night settings optimally.

Hi. It's now OK. There must have been a greasy film on the front glass. I cleaned both cameras with meth siprit and last night, the picture was perfect.

Thanks anyway. I probably should have tried that before posting!
