gyrokiller 0 Posted April 2, 2013 I bought VideoSecu Built-in SONY Effio CCD 700TVL Zoom Infrared Security Camera Day Night Vision Outdoor Wide Dynamic Range WDR Surveillance Camera DSP 9-22mm Lens for CCTV DVR Home Surveillance System with Power Supply, Security Camera Bracket and bonus Warning Sticker WE4. I got them on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001IFELSI/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1#productDescription They work great at my house. I got them for a friends company and we mounted them on a barn pretty high up and they can't see much at night. I need to fix this what can I do to make this work better. Any suggestions I can buy from amazon? Or whats a good camera that will work good high up and in complete darkness? Thanks Steve.
Kawboy12R 0 Posted April 2, 2013 Search Amazon for "IR illuminator" and see what pops up if he doesn't want to install white lighting. It's possible that the extra height puts the built-in IR on the Videosecu too far away to light things up. Extra IR will be welcome at a distance for whatever cam you end up with. Search for 940nm illuminator if he wants something that won't glow red if stealthy is the aim.
gyrokiller 0 Posted April 3, 2013 I found a few like the one you suggested, They don't have the ft I'm looking for. I would like to get as much range as possible. He isn't concerned about being stealthy . What do you think about this I found http://www.amazon.com/CMVision-IR200-Outdoor-400-500ft-Illuminator-Adapter/dp/B004V9Z7ZY/ref=pd_sim_p_1
Kawboy12R 0 Posted April 3, 2013 That's the 850nm version (glows red) version of my 940nm (doesn't glow) CMVision IR200-940 illuminator. Mine works fine, no complaints so far. The version you linked to will throw more "light" than mine for the camera to see because 850nm is more efficient than 940nm.

Any issues with it?
Kawboy12R 0 Posted August 20, 2013 Works fine, or did as of recently. Currently decommissioned. I'm in the middle of moving and work is very busy so not much time for cctv fiddling. Not sure if it'll be used at my new home but if not I'll move it down to a spot at work where the distances can be long in a larger lot. My biggest issue was washout at shorter ranges. I think I'd get a less powerful one next time for around the house.

Didn't even go out 30 feet. My little 67 led 850nm illuminators put the IR-200-940 to shame. You don't happen to have any photos of shots taken with the 940 by any chance do you? My cameras are Panasonic WV-SC385's and I have no way to determine if they are just blind to 940nm or not, but the fact that I could see the IR-200-940 fall off tells me it may not be due to the camera's but instead the IR-200-940 just not having enough light to brighten up my whole yard, let alone into the street. Kawboy12R 0 Posted August 30, 2013 Mmmm... Not sure if I do. The dvr I was using most of the time had the HD wiped. I've changed software on my laptop a few times so my network cam footage is gone from age or swapping. I saved stills on a desktop that's packed up since I moved. Might take some time to dig up something but I will try and remember. Busy and on my phone at the moment.
Robin2 0 Posted August 30, 2013 they can't see much at night. I need to fix this what can I do to make this work better. What exactly is wrong/ what do you see? Describe it a bit more. Is there any ambient light or are there lots of insects around? I have a cam with similar specs and it sees perfectly without IR just from ambient light so you have to identify the problem before jumping to standard solutions.
